Along with increasing mobility and public interest in travel, PT Angkasa Pura II KCU Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has once again been entrusted by adding two new airlines for international flights. In August 2023, airlines from Vietnam (VietJetAir) and India (IndiGo) made their inaugural flights through Terminal 2F of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

To welcome VietJet Air and IndiGo's inaugural flights, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, together with the airlines, held a series of inaugural ceremony before departure. On August 5, 2023, VietJet Air conducted its inaugural flight to Ho Chi Minh City. The cabin crew were warmly welcomed with flower garlands upon arrival at Terminal 2F. Meanwhile, IndiGo operated its direct flight to Mumbai on August 7, 2023, where passengers were greeted with traditional Betawi dances in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).

Dwi Ananda Wicaksana, Executive General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, congratulated the launch of VietJet Air's new route.

"We are delighted to welcome VietJet Air as the newest airline serving passengers at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. With their commitment to providing efficient fares coupled with high-quality air services, we believe VietJet Air will enhance our airport's connectivity in serving both domestic and international flights," said Dwi Ananda.

He also welcomed the direct flight by IndiGo Airlines to Mumbai - Jakarta route.

"With the opening of this new route (Mumbai - Jakarta), it is a clear indication of the growing demand for travel to Indonesia, offering convenient accessibility to Jakarta and vice versa. We highly appreciate IndiGo's initiative in opening this route and look forward to more airlines opening direct flight routes, considering the increasing trend in international tourist markets," added Dwi Ananda.

Nguyen Thanh Son, Vice President of Vietjet, stated that this new route will connect Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City, which will have a positive impact on both countries.

"Vietjet is pleased to launch a new direct service connecting Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City, making it easier and more affordable for Indonesians to visit Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam. More direct flights between Indonesia and Vietnam will create more seamless travel opportunities, business collaborations, and enhance bilateral trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges."

Meanwhile, Mr. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, expressed excitement about establishing flights between Mumbai and Jakarta, which will operate daily. Jakarta, as the capital and largest city in Indonesia, is a hub of economy, culture, and politics. This new route will not only strengthen bilateral relations and enhance direct connections but also open access and promote trade and tourism between Indonesia and India, he said.

Additionally, VietJet Air operates seven flights a week on the Ho Chi Minh route with a flight duration of three hours. IndiGo, on the other hand, becomes the sole Indian airline operating direct flights between India and Jakarta.
